Avalanche announces largest network upgrade since mainnet

Avalanche has announced a significant network upgrade called Avalanche9000, which will be the platform's largest since its mainnet launch in September 2020. The upgrade will soon be available on the testnet and aims to enhance the scalability of the Avalanche blockchain by making it easier and more economical for developers to create layer 1 chains, or subnets.

Avalanche9000 will also introduce customizable chains, speeding up the time-to-market for new projects. The upgrade includes new tools, documentation, developer incentives, and partnerships to support the launch of these subnets.

An Avalanche subnet is a specialized chain or network within Avalanche that has its own rules and validators, allowing for tailored blockchain experiences. Notable projects on Avalanche subnets include Deloitte, DeFi Kingdoms, Gunzilla Games, MapleStory, Shrapnel, and SK Planet.
