Firstly to the Westerners that don’t know what a tuktuk is, it is a three wheel vehicle commonly used in developing countries that offers convenient transport in a bike dominated culture but they have a bad effect on the environment.
e-Tuktuk is a new project that is being built on Cardarno’s blockchain, it has the potential to revolutionize the transportation sector in developing economies by combining EV + blockchain technology to create an economy model that will address some of the pressing issues faced in these economies such as financial exclusion, transparency, accountability + pollution.
As an Asia resident, I really appreciate the goals of this project + the improved design of their tuktuks, which appear to be safer, more comfortable + reliable than any previous tuktuk I have been in. However I think there is a reason EV vehicles have not taken off in Asia. According to the UN, Asia’s population is around 4.7 billion, whereas Europe has only 750 million. Constant long queuing up at a petrol stations in Asia is a daily occurrence and setting up charging stations to replace the existing infrastructure poses a significant challenge that could even worsen this congestion.
