Hivemapper has built a dashCam that you can install in your car to map the area while you drive. They have around 10,000 dashcams contributing to the global maps. Many are in orders and are waiting for their dashcam. They are shipping about 500 of these unites per week.
I have one installed in my car. At this point, their mobile app that is transferring the captured data to their servers is still buggy. They have been improving it regularly, but it still has some smoothing to be done for better driver experience.
So far they seem to have progressed well and working with community feedback. Show Less
