MaidSafe was one of the promising early projects that was working on decentralized rented data storage. It looks like this project has changed quite a bit since I last saw it.
One puzzling feature that they are promoting is a pay once, store forever model. Maybe I'm missing something, but that would lead to more and more data being stored, without a way to pay the people hosting the data. This is similar to what Arweave is promising.
On top of that, their focus seems to be scattered between different initiatives. I don't get a sense that they have a clear direction and they seem to be working on a bunch of random projects.
So I'm not as excited about this project as I was in the beginning. There are better options out there. Show Less
