One of the first things I noticed on the Millicent Labs website was the Barclay's Bank logo. Being one of the UK's largest banks, I was curious about the relationship between them and this project. Following the trail, I learned that Millicent Labs won the Barclays Accelerator Award for new businesses back in October 2022 Source. I thought it was quite impressive that they came out top out of the 50 companies who entered the competition.
Digging deeper I also learned that Millicent Labs were amongst the first to work with the MasterCard Multitoken Network "to explore how tokenized bank deposits and digital assets could help solve real world problems" The term 'tokenized bank deposits' started to make me feel a bit nervous.
Then I learned that co-CEO Kene Ezeji-Okoye did a talk about the future of crypto under the UK PM 'crook' Rishi Sunak. I felt a bit more nervous.
Finally, I learned that Kene works as a member of CBDC Technology Forum and for the Digital Euro Association. Serious alarm bells. 3 stars for what they've achieved, but worried they might on the wrong side of the crypto fence. Show Less
