MultiversX's new sharding technology, known as Adaptive State Sharding, is designed to enhance blockchain scalability and efficiency. It basically splits the network into smaller portions called "shards", where each shard processes a subset of transactions and smart contracts independently increasing the network's throughput. The key innovation is that the sharding is adaptive meaning number of shards can dynamically adjust based on network demand.

The technology has shown promise in testing environments and it demonstrated the ability to process thousands of TPS. However it will be truly proven as it handles increased usage and more complex applications over time. And here is a key point on MultiversX's success as I believe they need to attract more projects building on top of them.

The competition of this technology is not so vast with Ethereum 2.0 sharded architecture being still in development. This makes Polkadot the only real competition with their Parachains architecture which is different but shares some benefits (might go into detail on it in another post).

I believe this is an opportunity for MultiversX to become a leader in scalability and interoperability. However widespread adoption will be the key of its success. Show Less
