There are a lot of projects that are focused on "helping" you control how your data is monetized. I believe that if someone is helping you monetize your data, then they are making many multiples of what they are giving you.
That's just how it works.
Therefore, Rainfall makes it sound like the are being all beneficial, but they are just creating another data capturing ecosystem. You'll make pennies for sharing your data and they will make a fortune.
They say on their homepage that personal data is worth $2 trillion per year. Common sense tells us that number is way too small. Data is provided by most people in most countries around the world, to market goods and services. How can it be only worth $2T?
But maybe that's what they are willing to give you. So if we do the math...
$2,000,000,000,000 / 50,000,000,000 devices = $40/device/year
Do you want to give some random company your personal data for $40/device/year? I hope not.
