Realm describes itself as an 'AI empowered, community owned platform for creating games.' Since its inception at the end of 2020, Realm has maintained a significant following on Discord (over 38k), Telegram (over 12k) and Twitter (over 65k). This seems to be down to an energetic team who run consistent quizzes, art contests and racing games for prizes, while at the same time continuing to hone and build their metaverse.
Early investors were brought into the project via a Polkastarter campaign and were retained through staking Realm for sRealm and buying land. Although there doesn't seem to be much utility for either of those at the moment, a recent free mint of a HOVR board on MagicEden seems to have brought in recent new investors and sold out within minutes. This is in addition to the team's founder Matt Larby attending a large number of global conferences to promote the brand.
Earlier endorsement for Realm by the Altcoin Daily boys, Bitboy and others also brought in new investors and elevated the token price to over $2 in late 2021. While the token price has remained low since then, a strong community seems to have stuck around, still expecting and believing in great things. With a slightly new focus on NFT upgrades with new utilities, it may only be a matter of time before Realm reaches higher highs again. If the team can continue building on the metaverse app, give proper utility to the land parcels, and keep its community keen, it may even prove to be a rival to the Sandbox and Decentraland one day.
