Two Layers Are Better Than One…

The Open Network token (TON), created by the Telegram development team, is a decentralized dual-layer blockchain designed to provide a flexible peer-to-peer network, distributed storage and hosting, anonymity for nodes, DNS services, and payment capabilities, among other features.

For what? Integration with third-party messaging and social networking applications, of course, but that is just the tip of the use case iceberg!

Let’s unpack the idea of building a Dual Layer blockchain…

The Layer 2 chain does sharding and provides blazing-fast speed, and the Layer 1 master chain handles the consensus. Pretty cool and forward-thinking to implement them both from the start.

TON is a full-featured blockchain powering a full digital ecosystem. It has smart contracts, NFTs, cross-chain bridging, blockchain storage, internet protocols, and more. It is hard to imagine what it is missing.

I give this idea a full FIVE Stars based on the decentralization, the depth of use cases, the theoretical scalability (magnitudes higher than Ethereum 2.0), and what looks to be one of the strongest communities I have seen (see my #Community review) Show Less
