Not gonna lie. It irks me to see 1inch ranked atop all projects reviewed on this site. Then it dawned on me that I haven't reviewed it, so here goes. Let's see if I can knock it down a notch.
During the early DEX and DeFi days, I was still spot trading on CEXs, and two protocols jumped on my radar: Uniswap and 1inch, whose logo looks like an angry version Uniswap unicorn. I gravitated toward Uniswap simply for how simple its interface was, while 1inch seemed to require a little knowledge about staking and whatnot, and not as easy to navigate.
1inch had a moment in 2022 in the final days of the bull run--I remember seeing ads for it all over social media and vaguely remember a post celebrating 1 million wallet users (I was one of them). There were airdrops that came and went, and it seems that overall users and transaction volume peaked in early 2023, plateaued in the summer, and has declined since. The once-mighty marketing machine has halted, the community is a shadow of what it was pre-airdrop, and I haven't used my 1inch wallet since... well, I can't remember.
