I love the design of the tokenomics of the StarkNet Token. Its design considers the needs of users, operators, and developers. The fee structure and token minting should be automated, tested, transparent, resistant to manipulation, and user-friendly. Tokens will be allocated to smart contract developers based on the value they provide, measured by fees paid. Core developers and contributors will also receive tokens, with the exact allocation mechanism to be determined while ensuring decentralization and transparency.
Tokenomics Ten billion tokens have been created by StarkWare outside of the main blockchain. The number of tokens in circulation will grow gradually as the protocol mints new tokens, following a schedule that will be decided by the community later on.
The token allocation plan for StarkNet showcases a distribution that caters to different stakeholders and aspects of the project. StarkWare investors hold 17% of the tokens, while core contributors, including StarkWare employees and consultants, and software developer partners, receive 32.9%. The remaining 50.1% is granted to the Foundation for various purposes.
I think it has a good balanced approach for all stakeholders. I personally like:
- 4-year lock-up period to core contributors and investors
- Research Grants
- Strategic Reserve
- Collaborations and knowledge sharing with donations (2%)
