Coinweb Launched Their Beta Mainnet

I've been following Coinweb for a long time and it looks like there's a lot of exciting things happening now. Disclaimer: my company also worked with Coinweb for about a year (but not anymore) and I hold a small bag.

  1. They launched their Beta Mainnet, Dev Net and Dev SDKs and Dev Grant program

This is huge (5 years in the making). It's similar to a mainnet launch, because now apps can start building on top of Coinweb and I've been told that the first apps might go live in just a few weeks from now. Apparently there are dozens of well know dapps already building their Coinweb versions. For reference, Solana is still running on its Beta mainnet and hasn't launched its mainnet yet.

So the Beta Mainnet is ready, developers can use the SDKs to create things like liquidity pools and other smart contracts and they've launched a $10M USD development fund which awards up to $300,000 USD grants (apparently a large part of their reserves has been dedicated towards this program).

One important capability is that Coinweb allows L2 High-order Smart Contracts using Javascript. This will allow lots of web2 developers to start building web3 applications.

  1. Their user numbers and transaction count have been growing steadily in 2023 (image 1 and 2).

Coinweb has been running in a permissioned state for several years and has had 2 projects running on top of it. On-ramp and Blockfort. These two companies do crypto on-ramping and off-ramping and transactions for e-sports amongst others. As part of it's cross-chain layer 2 technology, Coinweb writes these transactions into underlying chains and it's been responsible for large parts of these chains transactions (more than 7% of Bitcoin Cash before they spread transactions to other chains)

  1. Vesting

Apparently all their pre-sale token have completed vesting at the end of 2023. So the dump fest may have completed, or be close to doing so.

  1. New website

This has long been overdue in my opinion. The new website looks much better.

The reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that Coinweb has had at least a year delay in launching a lot of these features. However, with the recent releases at just the right time (as the bull market is just around the corner), I'm very hopeful that Coinweb can soon take off and spread its wings. It's definitely a project to pay closer attention to. I will be in regular contact with the team and posting updates when important things happen. Show Less
