This is another project that promises "benefits" but the real goal here is to create a central point of control.

For example, how many times has a car mechanic tried to charge you a crazy amount of money for a job that was totally unnecessary? Unfortunately, it's quite common in the car repair business.

That's why it's important to own your own OBD scanner, so you know if the mechanic is telling the truth or not. The scanner only costs about $40. With this scanner, some repairs can be done very cheaply or are not needed at all.

However, if your car's OBD computer is linked to your registration, insurance and a host of other "services," can be linked to your OBD computer. If you don't meet certain requirement, you have to pay a fine or you cannot register or get insurance. Of course the requirements can be changed to suit anyone with a financial interest. For example, they could lower your emissions limit arbitrarily, without any justification.

If you're using a system like this, you basically cannot drive if you get locked out.

From a trading standpoint, this will take awhile to catch on, if it ever does, so it doesn't seem like a good trade either. Show Less
