In my opinion, DIMO is a very unique Mobility project. It has tremendous potential.

Built on Polygon, it has created a device that you can connect to your car's obd reader. It creates your car's identity on blockchain as an NFT. The device reads data(Car's health, your driving habit etc) and shares it on the network regularly. By providing data, car owners earn Dimo token. Dimo opens up the shared car data to potential businesses for building applications. They already have many application built into their mobile app -
Refinancing your car
Lease End (Helping maximizing car's lease value)
Used car market - utilizing Dimo collected data for better pricing and decision
Dimo Connect- Buy wifi for a long drive through Dimo app
Read Error Codes
Your mechanic - Get discounted local mechanics

Unlike Helium, where more devices in an area reduces rewards and creates redundancy, Dimo will be happy to have all the cars connected. More cars and more data make the whole ecosystem better. It creates endless possibility of creating new economy (ie, better insurance for better drivers).

I am super excited to see real world problems being solved through blockchain technology. Future is definitely bright.

DIMO acquires your car data, anonymize and sells the aggregate to companies to make better products, optimize services and locations.
Whats the catch ?
For that you have to acquire a 'miner' that is a known car-reading device obd scanner.
When I need a repair, i check the 3-4 opinions, it costs 180+ dollars just to decide the mechanic prognostic and service due to scanner fees.
The great thing
Is that having it in your vehicle, you can have real time data to oil, engines, temperature and all measurable levels that you only know when it's TOO LATE.
With that, you not just goes preventively to the cars service, but you get DIMO tokens.

Yes, to rely on data!
When you insert and configure the hardware with polygon chain, you'll have you car ID as NFT and start earning in that wallet's NFT address.

As of 24th Feb23 they had only 7k cars connected, and today, almost a year later 17th feb 24, there are 45,640 cars connected !
#What's the Killer App for me?
There are some nice partnerships but the main idea for me is the P2P car sharing system.
Why ?
With the obd scanner, you can rely and measure how much someone should pay for the ride according to that drivers vices and necessary maintaining that it will occur due to his driving.

For example, how many times has a car mechanic tried to charge you a crazy amount of money for a job that was totally unnecessary? Unfortunately, it's quite common in the car repair business.

That's why it's important to own your own OBD scanner, so you know if the mechanic is telling the truth or not. The scanner only costs about $40. With this scanner, some repairs can be done very cheaply or are not needed at all.

However, if your car's OBD computer is linked to your registration, insurance and a host of other "services," can be linked to your OBD computer. If you don't meet certain requirement, you have to pay a fine or you cannot register or get insurance. Of course the requirements can be changed to suit anyone with a financial interest. For example, they could lower your emissions limit arbitrarily, without any justification.

If you're using a system like this, you basically cannot drive if you get locked out.

From a trading standpoint, this will take awhile to catch on, if it ever does, so it doesn't seem like a good trade either.
